Rings

‘Rings’ is an augmented Alto Glockenspiel where each sound bar is fitted with a spring-mounted ERM motor that can be controlled individually for each bar. The instrument is capable of mallet-like impact sounds as well as ringing pulse sequences through continuously driving and modulating the motor’s rotation speed.

‘Rings’ was used in Ar Hyd y Nos.

Highlight: Rings can be controlled as MIDI device but also act as MIDI Host for MIDI devices/keyboards directly without the need of a compute.
